Antigua Travel Guide: Part I

Part I: Where to eat & sleep in Antigua, Guatemala.

When thinking about the years we have been living here, there's only one thing we know for certain; Antigua Guatemala is a town you can’t get tired of. You can spend one day or one lifetime and find endless inspiration, art, beauty and culture. We put together a list of where to eat, sleep, shop and play in Antigua. In part one we’ll cover where to eat and sleep! Support small and local businesses and pay them a visit during your next trip to Antigua!

Where to eat:

Y Tu Piña Tambien

“The Corner Coffee Shop” that’s the best way to describe this quaint little cafe. When deciding where to get breakfast don't think twice before choosing Y Tu Piña and order a Chapin Breakfast (traditional in Guatemala) and a much needed morning coffee. Rachel visited Y Tu Piña Tambien back in 2007 when she visited Guatemala for the first time!

Kombu: Ramen Shop

The first ramen shop in Guatemala! But also, our absolute favorite. Homemade noodles in a bowl full of comfort and happiness. Kombu also offers other menu items just as tasty like gyosas and sake, and of course they have vegan options as well.

Santo Cielo

Santo Cielo is one of our favorite Antigua getaways and definitely deserves at least one night stay when you’re visiting. Nestled up high in the mountains right outside of Antigua proper, Santo Cielo is a collection of airstream trailers, containers and unique cabins that give you the feeling of luxury camping. Each room feels private with its own hot tub and beautiful views. Santo Cielo is owned by the famous Santo Domingo Hotel, so you experience all of the luxury and service of Santo Domingo but high up in the mountains.
